The Process Cont. June 9th 2007
|
we have our Fridge as they ordered the wrong one of that also. I asked them to check the rest of the stuff
as we are two for two on screw ups however I doubt they did.So Monday they will show up with what
ever the rest of the appliances that they have are.
Clint could not finish putting in the kids' tub as he needed to order a special part and by the time the part
comes in the floors will be wet with varnish and access to the bath will not be available. This also prevented
the Satellitte guy for hooking up the Media room television(the floors being wet) but we have t.v. in my
music room but no bookcases to put the t.v. on nor a televison for that room either.Besides I do not feel I
will be watching a lot of television in the near future. The weather has been slowing the floor process down
as it continues to be damp and cool. Hopefully the floors in the house will be done by Tuesday and we will
be able to walk on them by Wednesday evening. This will give us two nights in which I can get some work
done prior to moving day.
All in all the house is looking good but it still has a lot of work to go but we will be able to move in and deal
with it as we live there. Here is to 6 days and counting

The complications continue. The stove still has yet to arrive and the Fridge is not in yet. The owner called to apologize and said there was no excuse for it which I must agree. We ordered everything back on April 1st during that time we went from a house needing to be insulated and sheetrocked to a near finished home and they still can not get the correct appliances in. The kitchen is also slow moving in getting it's finishing touches. They still need to rout lines for the electrical wires, install the cooktop hood and the built in for the coffee machine as well as the counter top for the breakfast bar all of which we have no idea when they plan on doing this. One of our outsides lights was busted when the electrician pulled it out of the box although it was not busted a few days ago? The electrician still has a lot of little things to do but keeps trying to do them at an hour or two at a time. The floors are all done except he did not do the thresholds because the appliance guys were going to be delivering the appliances(which they didn't) so I was left with that project. The banister was supposed to be installed today but they only drilled some holes and then left for the day. The kids tub is supposed to be fixed Saturday and the shower door went in today. Atleast we can take a shower! The internet guy is coming Friday between 8AM and Noon when we are moving and someone needs to be there, so Pattie will be in Boothbay Harbor with the movers and I will be in Edgecomb with the contractors.I am sure there are other things going on that I do not remember at this point but Hey I will deal with it tomorrow. At this point I am just looking forward to Friday night after the contractors are gone for the day and the movers have left. This is when I plan on sitting out on the farmers porch in my new rocking chair with Pattie, cracking open a beer and being ohh soo happy that we are finally in the house. Finished or not "what a long strange trip it's been"

The weekend was a blur, we had everyone there. The electrician, the plumber, the heating and propane
guy, the counter top people, the cabinet makers, the security system installers, the banister installers, the
shower door installers and ofcourse the movers.
Everyone worked really hard to get as much done as possible for us to be able to move in over the
weekend and we appreciate it greatly. The movers went beyond their normal duties in helping move our
woodstove in along with other items, thanks guys! Ofcourse the big push was not without
miscommunications, a missing counter top which they quickly made and brought up on Monday and a
few other little things but all in all it went rather smoothly.
So we are finally in the house and it is far from done, but we are in and that is the important thing. Even
if we are living in the mist of hundreds of boxes. All of Pattie's clothes are piled everywhere as I did not
get her closet finished but I did start it last night and will be working on it this week, so much for taking
a few days off...... perhaps soon
I hope to be adding more pictures as we remove the moving debris.

We finally have internet hooked up at our house, so once again I can start to add comments and
pictures to the website. It will be a few more weeks for pictures though as I want to get most of the
boxes cleaned up so that you can see the house and not just the mess. Besides this will also give me
time to do a litle bit of trim work.
Our kitchen is pretty much done with the exception of hooking up the water lines for the coffee
machine and the fridge. The leak from the half bath was fixed Monday and Gediman's appliances gave
us a $100 gift certificate to our favorite restaurant (JR Maxwells) for our inconvience. Thank you, that
was very nice.
I was able to build Pattie's walkin closet for her over the weekend and she helped me paint it.On
Monday I installed the kitchen exhaust fan and hooked that up. I played electrician on that one! We are
slowly moving towards a house that is finished with the exception of the trim work which I plan on
working on room by room.
Just a quick note to say thanks to everyone who has called, sent flowers, cards and gifts or stopped by
to wish us luck in our new home. Your thoughtfulness has been very much appreciated.
