Now that the Holidays are over I have had the chance to start working on the house again. I was able to
finish painting all the trim work in the back entry way, the laundry room and the dining room. I am now
working on painting the hallway trim as Pattie works on painting the hallway walls. We did not like the
color we had, so we repainted again. The tile finally arrived for the fireplace surround all in one peice and
that was installed last week however as our luck with this project has been going there was something
wrong with the grout and that is falling out and we need to have this regrouted. We also finally got our
internet working again so I will be able to upload some more pictures in the near future. We hope to have
the downstairs all done, trimpaint and all by the end of this month. Yes this is something you have heard
before! Hopefully this time it is true.Check back and see if this time it comes true.
With the exception of a few small details I am proud to annouce that the first floor is finished as
promised before the end of the month. This includes us painting the hallway a new color and repainting
the music library both not orignally planned. It is a small victory yet a victory just the same. Now I will
take a few weeks off to work on my taxes as I try not to donate too much money to our Government
and take a short trip to St. Petes Beach. I will continue the process in Mid February as I head up to the
second floor..... PS GO GIANTS !!!!!!! BEAT THOSES PATSYS
OK just a few minutes to Gloat!!! How bout them Giants... What a great present that was to me living
and working here in Patriots Land.
Now back to the house..With our trip to Florida and tax filings due etc. most of my free time has been
taken away from the house, however any left over time was spent going over areas on the first floor
and hitting the little things that were missed (small areas of trim paint on wall paint etc) I also
refinshed the two original interior doors that we used on the first floor and they came out relatively
good. Starting this Tuesday I will once again break out the compressor, saws and sanders and start
on the second floor hallway. I am actually looking forward to getting back to work so that must mean
I am rested.
A quick note I added the Boothbay Harbor LIVE Webcam to my index page so you can see the harbor
and weather.
OK so March did not prove to be as productive as I had hoped, as you can probably tell by my lack
of entries on this website. Between several visits of friends and relatives on the weekends, Easter
and an 86 hour work week at work this month not a lot has been accomplished by me. I was able
however to refinish the bathroom door and the hallway side of Sam's bedroom's door. I also have
installed the trim work in the second floor hallway and started my way up the stairs towards the
third floor. While this was not nearly the amount I had penciled in to my plan for March I felt this
was an accomplishment of it's own due to all the time demands of the month.I hope to finish the
entire second floor's trim work in April. Time will tell.
On the website this past month I added a lot of photos of previous projects so if you are bored and
looking for new photos to look at you visit the "Other Projects" link I have below.
Okay so best laid plans of mice and men, the end of April is fast approaching and I still have two
bedrooms to finish and part of the master suite. I am almost done with refinishing the interior doors
and I have raked most of the lawn. A short vacation and the pending sale of our Camp has been
taking away a lot of my free time as I have been fixing broken water lines and moving out furniture
and cleaning up the yard etc however the sale of this will allow us to add the Breezeway and the
Carriage house to Cross Point farm.
Currently our stone patio is being built and I hope to have photos of this project up by this weekend.
Yes new recent photos! My plans for finishing the upstairs is ongoing although perhaps it will be
May??
On a sad note we once again lost our Rooster to the winds in March and April and although I was
able rescue him from being stuck in between the two barn roofs I am not sure if or how we will
return him to his perch. Obviously the current stand that the company has been supplying us with is
not capable of holding him.
