The insulation company (Warm Tech) came back today and fixed all my concerns. They were very
respectful about it and made sure I was happy before they left. I was not sure if I was going to be met
with an attitude or not but ,I was not and that speaks volumes for the company. So now I am happy with
the product and the company. This is a good thing.
Speaking of good things when I arrived this morning at the house the sheet rocker was there and ready to
go. John Coady is the sheet rocker we ennded up going with and so far he has been very nice and has
showed great concern for our project. So after a day of sheet rocking the house is starting to take shape.
Pattie and I are beside ourselves with excitement
Today Pattie reserved the slab of granite for our counter tops. Last Sunday I bought a door bell to replace
the the door bell that was broken. It is funny how things work, Sunday morning I decided to check on
ebay to see if there were any door bells for sale. I had given up on searching after losing out on several
earlier in the year. I went on their site and found one for sale that had a patten date of Dec. 30, 1879.
Ours was Feb. 25 1879. Close enough I thought and it was a buy now sale so I could not lose plus the
price was lower than I had bid on others so I went ahead and bought it. It came in the mail today and
while it is larger than the old one it is more ornate. I think it will look just great.
Saturday night Pattie and I went shopping for fawcets and ended up with lights for both hallways and the
attic/ media room. Funny how that works, but it we loved the lights and we found a fawcet also.
So things are finally starting to pick up now all we need to do it kleep it going on schedule.
April 17, 2007 Rooster Dies
|
Sunday night April 15 was the start of what they called the perfect storm. Now the perfect storm to
me is one that misses us and leaves us with 80 degree weather sunny and no wind. This one brought
us 70-80 mile an hour gusts and constant 30 mph winds, over 5 inches of rain in the first 8 hours and
another 3 inches to follow in the next three days. The Harbor area and all of the coast of Maine
suffered flooding and wind damage. On Monday morning I drove to the farm and found our Rooster
missing from his perch on the cupola. Upon a search around the barns I find him laying on his side
with his stem busted cleanly off. He will be missed by all. He started out with such promise 36" tall
made of bright and shinny cooper. However his time was never meant to last when he took damage
within the first month and became bent to the side. I liked to say he was "half cocked". After that he
limped bravely for another 14 months until finally Mother Nature gave him more than he can handle. I
have already been asked if we plan to replace him but it is too soon in the grieving process to even
think of such things. So with his brave soul fresh in our memories may we have a moment of silence
as look at his picture in full roost.

Besides the lost of our Rooster, we also lost power on Monday, which caused the cellar to flood. I was
lucky in that I was able to catch it before any damage was done and I worked for four hours pumping
and vacuuming up the water. Later that evening I made two trips to re fill the generator with gas to keep
everything running once at 10PM and once at 4AM. The loss of power and the storm has slowed my
work to a hault and this was the week I took some vacation days to work on the house. I was lucky I
was home to attend to the properties during such storm however not being able to get any work done is a
bit unnerving. Especially since the clock is ticking and only 59 days until moving day.
